Mums in Tech & RADA in Business Debut Course for Women Returning to Work: “Return to Work with Impact and Influence” takes place 1st and 2nd August, supported by techUK

Mums in Tech is pleased to announce their returners to work programme designed and operated with RADA in Business, and supported by techUK. The programme is focused on developing the confidence and leadership skills of women returning to part-time or full-time work after career breaks.

A recent study released by Hatch UK included worrying statistics about the silent crisis plaguing women returning to work after career breaks, including:

·       60% of returning mothers feel less or no confidence when coming back to work

·       14% of women take a cut in responsibility at work after their maternity leave

·       Only 16% of women’s careers have progressed since having children

The aim of the two day course is to help women overcome the challenges they face when they return to work by developing tools, skills and strategies to help them perform in the work environment and to help them be the best version of themselves.

June Angelides, founder of Mums in Technology, says: “Looking back at my career, I can think of numerous instances where having the tools to confidently voice my opinions or ask for a pay rise would have been invaluable. 

After kids, it's normal for your confidence to take a dip, regardless of your level of seniority. We want to make sure we are seeing more women heading for the boardroom and taking up their seats.”

With the help of sponsors, Mums in Tech are able to offer 50% scholarships (worth £1,100) for the inaugural programme, which takes place at RADA Studios on 1-2 August 2017.

These are just a few of the practical techniques I took away from my recent RADA in Business experience. Flexible Work From Home Opportunity - Data Manager (10-20 hours / week)

Would you like to join our dynamic team of parents who work together in remote and flexible roles? Our company is called ‘Happity’ - a modern web platform for finding local baby and toddler classes. Our mission is to help make life easier in those early days of parenthood, and to prove flexible working works whilst we’re at it. Just because we love being parents, doesn’t mean it’s all we want to be.

You will be working directly with the founder of Happity, and ideally, you’re someone who has the potential to grow with the role as the business expands. You’re interested in being part of the early stages of our startup journey and you want to make a positive difference in the world. This role requires an average of 15 hours per week, with flexibility to vary hours depending on work requirements and life.

You will primarily be responsible for:-

  • assessing new listings submitted to the platform

  • researching and entering accurate information

  • editing and actively managing our data to ensure high quality information

  • owning the overall process - from lead generation to completed listings

  • providing feedback to improve the design of the system itself

  • playing a role in recruiting and managing others as the team expands
