If you were in London the past weekend and you were hoping to attend a cool event, then you shouldn’t have missed this weekend’s Fashion Recoded event. Mums in Tech and Matchesfashion partnered up and hosted a wonderful morning that celebrated a group of wonderful and inspiring women. The event was hosted in The Shard, a beautiful and glamourous location, and it offered some insight for women, especially mums who are interested in fashion, technology, entrepreneurship and self-development.
The morning was kicked off with Michelle Kennedy, the CEO and co-founder of Peanut, an app that helps mums all over the world connect. Michelle talked about her journey of becoming the woman she is and how peanut came to life. She talked about the importance of having a support system, and the bravery to go after what you want. She encouraged women to help and support each other, and to take risks and not be afraid to ask people for help. She said, “It is by failing you find out what the right answer and solution is”. I couldn’t have said it any better. Next, we had Susan and Anna talk about their background and experience, and gave us some insight to the wonderful world of MatchesFashion.
We then had Sara Feldman, a Psychotherapist and a Mindfulness expert talk about the importance of taking care of ourselves, physically and mentally. She guided the attendees through a mindfulness exercise and demonstrated and presented us with a quick and easy way to unwind. She said, “Practicing mindfulness help us with regulating our emotions and feelings”, which is something that is extremely important for everyone, especially for mums, who often forget to take a minute for themselves. We then had Tara Clarkson from Matchesfashion who provided the audience with great CV and interview tips and hacks.
Finally, we had the lovely Lisa Williams- editor and Co-founder of Tantrum XYZ, host an inspiring Panel that featured Dolly Jones- Digital Strategy Director, Conde Nast Digital, June Angelides- CEO and Founder of Mums in Tech, and Vicky Ashley- The Head of People at Matchesfashion. The panel was as impressive and inspiring as the women it featured. They shared their wisdom and knowledge and talked about their journeys. They gladly accepted questions from the audience afterwards and left most of us eager to go out there and chase after our dreams.
I certainly was so inspired by not only the women who spoke at the event, but also by the ones who attended it. I got to meet and talk to some ambitious and impressive women from different walks of life. It was so nice and refreshing to see all these women gather in one place to learn from one another and support each other. I was also happy to hear about upcoming events for women that a learning and supportive environment for women. So make sure to keep an eye out and attend future events!
The Mums in Tech team would like to thank the team at Matchesfashion for a truly memorable morning!
